Midgard was retained to conduct a feasibility assessment for a proposed 500 MW pumped storage project in Wawa, northeast of Manila, Philippines. The multi-purpose, multi-dam development is designed to provide electricity and pumped storage services while also supporting flood mitigation, drinking water supply, and ancillary services within the Philippines’ electricity market, which operates under a structure similar to California’s.
Midgard’s scope of work included:

  • Transmission Requirements Review – Assessed the project's transmission needs and grid integration.
  • Project Cost Estimation – Developed a detailed cost analysis for construction and operation.
  • Conceptual Design – Prepared a preliminary project design.
  • Economic Analysis & Financial Modeling – Evaluated the project's economic viability and financial outlook.
  • Executive Presentations – Delivered key findings to MidAmerican Energy executives in Manila and later to the CEO in San Francisco.

Midgard’s assessment provided critical insights into the project's technical and economic feasibility, supporting executive decision-making and further project development
