Liam Sibbald

B.Eng

Liam Sibbald graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2024 with a degree in Electrical Engineering specializing in Power and Sustainable Energy, with research experience spanning 6G bandwidth-reduction encoding and AI-driven wind farm layout optimization. He also gained hands-on renewable energy experience as a Solar Panel Installer with Quadra Solar.

Since graduating, Mr. Sibbald has delivered power and energy consulting support across planning, regulatory, and grid-study work for major organizations including the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), and Nisga’a Lisims Government. His contributions have included procurement and contract review support and jurisdictional research for resource adequacy practices (IESO), project management and technical review of a Distribution System Plan to assess rate-application justification (OEB), and transmission cost estimation and corridor mapping updates aligned with approved routing and phased project plans (Nisga’a Lisims Government). He has also supported transmission and system impact assessments using Monte Carlo simulation methods and grid simulation tools (e.g., PSS®E), combining technical analysis with clear reporting for stakeholders.
